Alphabet Photography

For several years I've been capturing letters in nature. It's a favorite thing for me to do with my children when we visit a new place. We roam around downtown hunting for letters of the alphabet. My kids have a good eye. I have a lot more of these letters than I have posted here. 

It makes a walk more exciting when you have letters you are searching for. This letter collection is from all over. Not very many are actually from the city we live in. That makes them even more special. Each letter has a story and place behind it.

It's so fun to put the letters together to spell out words! I once made a wooden sign as a gift. I printed each 4x6 inch photo and I glued them with mod podge onto a large wooden sign. I added a hanger to the back of the wood, and I had a one of a kind work of art. So neat to see hanging on a wall!

You can see from the letters that I have posted, some are very easy to find, and some are EXTREMELY difficult. There are a couple letters that we only have found one of and there are some letters that we have found as many as 10!! In the future I hope to add more alphabet letters to our collection. It would be fun to add numbers as well!

Be My Valentine

Right now my sons are really into playing the new Legend of Zelda game. This gave me an idea for making my youngest son's Valentines. We rarely ever buy a box from the store. It's so much more fun to make them ourselves! I put together a printable for him to color and hand out to his classmates this year.

You can feel free to use the coloring pages for your own PERSONAL use.  But please be kind and do not claim these pictures as your own or offer them for downloads.  It makes me sad to see my pictures on a coloring page website run by someone else.

To make his Zelda Valentine's I made a new coloring sheet for Zelda. I love the pixel pictures from the original game, and I knew it would be easy to make on my computer. He is so excited to work on these for his friends!

I printed the sheets of Valentine's on cardstock. Some are printed on red cardstock so he won't need to color them in. Some are printed on white cardstock so he can color in the heart.

I also made a fun back to his Valentine's. They look like post cards. If you wanted to actually put them in the mail, you would need a real stamp and room for the address. This is made just to hand out to friends and family. I also left plenty of room to write a personal note to each friend!

My son is a HUGE fan of Lego's too. I made this Valentine print for him to pass out along with the Zelda ones!

Since I went to the trouble of making Valentine's for my son, I thought I'd turn all of my other fun Valentine coloring pages into printables that you can print. Please feel free to print and color them yourself to give away.

I think all of these would be fun to print on brown recycled cardstock too!

Meet Kirsten: An American Girl

I've decided to branch out a little in my love for the American Girls. When I was young I read all the books. As an adult, only Felicity stuck with me. I couldn't remember much about the stories of the other historical characters. 

Over the past week, I have purchased the story collection for several of the girls. Right now I have Kirsten, Samantha, and Addy. Over the course of the next couple weeks Molly, Josefina, Kaya, and Kit's story collection books will be arriving in the mail. I'm excited for all the reading I will be doing. I'm even more excited to read these books aloud to some very special little girls. 

I love that American Girl has released each historical character's set of 6 books into one convenient hardback book. I don't know if they still have the books in print, but I do know you can find them inexpensively on Amazon and Ebay if you don't mind used books. This makes it much easier to collect them all.

This week, I worked really hard on turning Kirsten into a fun coloring page. In the future, as I read more of the story collections, I will be turning each girl into a coloring sheet. I also can't wait to share these coloring pages with those same special little girls. You can check back later for more pages!
