Billy Vanilly

A few weeks ago, we all spent the evening listening to original music, chatting with our friends, and eating some very delicious cupcakes. If you have not visited "Billy Vanilly" (formerly known as Daddy Cakes) you are missing out on one of Topeka's finest treats. You haven't had a good cupcake until you've tried the many varieties that they bake and sell at Billy Vanilly. My personal all time favorite is sold only on Saturdays, "The Cosmopolitan." (I've just checked their website, and I can't find my cupcake listed anywhere. So I guess now if you want to try it, you just have to know a baker, and talk real sweet to her.)

The night we visited was a special occasion as they aren't normally open past 7pm. This time we were treated to some live original music sung by Josh Vaughn, the worship leader from our own Good News Church. My husband and a few other members of the church worship band also were playing along with Josh.

We had loads of fun that night, and can't wait for another set of live music and late hours. The atmosphere was friendly, busy, loud, and full of celebration.

Zechariah got in good with one of the bakers, and even got to help put sprinkles on their trademark cupcake, "Billy Vanilly". You can tell from the photo, he took his job very seriously!

As you can see, the place was really busy that night, and therefore the cupcakes were running low. They still had my personal favorite, so it was all right by me.

It's a perfect spot to take your children. The cupcakes taste divine, and there are plenty of fun things for the kids to get into. They have some chalk kids can draw or color pictures with. There is a big wall full of magnetic letters, and lots of games for the kids to play. They also have blocks to build with and other boxes of treasures the kids can get into.

Billy Vanilly also does really fun birthday parties. Ariel had her 9th-birthday party here several months ago. All the girls from her party got to throw on an apron and have a cooking lesson in the kitchen. I was impressed!

You don't have to just take my word for it, the kids speak out for themselves, "Billy Vanilly Rocks! Number 1 Place!"
